South Barrington, IL

South Barrington, IL is a northwest suburb of Chicago, just south of Barrington, and is best known for featuring some of the largest homes in Illinois.  The population is around 5,000 residents, and is about 30 miles from Chicago. South Barrington, IL has 43 private lakes and ponds and 35 subdivisions. 

The South Barrington Conservancy is located on 35 acres of lightly wooded prairie and wetlands. People from all other love to come to the area and take in nature. During spring, photography classes and educational walks are offered to visitors. There is an observation platform overlooking the large pond, and is a great spot for viewing waterfowl. There is also a trail so hikers and walkers can explore.

Arbor Day is a big annual celebration here.  In the fall you can enjoy the Scarecrow Trail Walk. There are many events here throughout the year! Adjacent to the Conservancy is the South Barrington Park District’s, Community Park. There you can find playgrounds, soccer fields, softball fields, and more.

The Village of South Barrington, IL offers a couple areas for shopping, dining, and entertainment. The largest of these is the South Barrington Arboretum, which consists of iPic Theater, Pinstripes Restaurant, The Hampton Social and more.
